Terms & Conditions
1. Competition Overview
The 2025 Stable to Stirrup Photo Calendar Competition ("Competition") is organised by the Standardbred Stable to Stirrup Charitable Trust (“Organiser”).
The purpose of the Competition is to showcase the lives of Standardbred horses after their racing careers and to raise funds for the charity from the sales of the resulting calendar.
2. Eligibility
The Competition is open to individuals residing in New Zealand only.
Entries are limited to individuals who have legal ownership, or consent from the owner of the Standardbred/s pictured, to submit a photograph for the purposes of this Competition.
Entries must have legal permission, including consent from the photographer and/or any person/s, or identifiable property pictured, to submit the photograph for the purposes of this Competition.
3. Entry Submission:
Each entry must complete the entry form via the official competition webpage - https://www.stabletostirrup.org/calendarcompetition
Photographs must be in digital format, high resolution (at least 200 dpi), and submitted via the official competition webpage.
Participants may submit a maximum of three (3) photographs, and each photograph must be submitted as a separate entry via the official competition webpage.
Each entry must include the race name, paddock name, brand or microchip details of the horse/s pictured, and the name and contact details of the entrant, along with a brief description of the horse's life after racing.
If requested, each entry must be able to provide sufficient verification, as determined by the Organisers, that the horse/s pictured is a Standardbred.
Each entry must include the name and contact details of the photographer, where this is not the entrant.
The submission period begins at 9am on 18 June 2024 and ends at 5pm on 31 July 2024. Entries received after this date will not be considered.
4. Photograph Requirements:
Photographs must feature Standardbred horse/s in their life after harness racing, showcasing their versatility as a ridden horse and/or companion animal.
Images must not be altered or enhanced in any way that misrepresents the subject.
Watermarked images will not be considered.
5. Judging Criteria:
Entries will be judged based on relevance to the theme.
A panel of judges selected by Stable to Stirrup will evaluate the entries.
The decision of the judges is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
6. Prizes:
12 photographs will be selected as the winners and will be featured in the 2025 Stable to Stirrup Photo Calendar.
Each of the 12 winners will receive a prize from one of our sponsors.
Prizes may include gift certificates, merchandise, and/or other items as determined by the sponsors and in agreement with Stable to Stirrup.
Prizes are non-transferable, and no cash alternatives are available.
7. Notification of Winners:
Winners will be notified via email or phone and will be announced on social media channels within 7 business days of the closing date.
8. Usage Rights:
By entering the Competition, participants grant Stable to Stirrup a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, reproduce, display, and distribute the submitted photographs in connection with the Competition and the promotion of the resulting calendar.
Photographers will be credited whenever their photos are used.
9. Liability:
Stable to Stirrup accepts no responsibility for lost, delayed, damaged, or misdirected entries.
Participants agree to release and hold harmless Stable to Stirrup from any liability, claims, or damages arising out of their participation in the Competition or the acceptance, use, or misuse of any prize.
10. Intellectual Property Rights
Entrants must own the copyright of the submitted photographs or have explicit permission from the photographer to use the images for this competition.
Any use of copyrighted material without proper authorisation will result in disqualification.
11. Privacy:
Personal information collected from participants will be used solely for the purpose of administering the Competition and will not be shared with third parties without consent.
The names and contact details of the 12 winners will be provided to the prize sponsors for the purposes of delivering prizes only.
By entering this competition entrants’ consent to the use of their name, the horses’ details, and photograph for promotional purposes related to the Competition and the resulting calendar.
12. General Conditions:
Stable to Stirrup reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the Competition at any time if it is not capable of running as planned, including but not limited to, technical failures, fraud, or any other cause beyond Stable to Stirrup’s control.
Entry into the Competition constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions.
13. Governing Law:
These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these terms and conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
