Honky Tonk ‘Tonka’

2020 - bay gelding - 16.2hh

Tonka has been in training through the Stable to Stirrup program for retraining and rehoming off the track standardbreds as ridden horses. Tonka has been under saddle since February 2025.

Tonka has done flatwork in the arena, gone out on road rides and paddock rides with company, has popped over a few jumps.

Tonka walk, trot established under saddle, and has achieved canter. He has a beautiful floaty canter, which still needs some work, but he shows great potential as a dressage or showing prospect. Tonka would equally make a great hack, hunter type, or general all-rounder with more mileage and experiences.

Tonka is gentle on the ground, easy to catch and handle, good to worm and for the farrier and dentist, however he is very big, solid horse and will need a confident handler. Tonka can be paddocked with both mares and geldings, but he is dominant in a herd and will be the boss.

Dental, farrier, and worming all up to date. Has also had a bodywork session with Nicolett from Living Anatomy of the Horse.

Tonka has some quirks and has been known to throw in the odd buck, and we are happy to discuss this with a potential buyer in more detail.

Currently $800. Price will increase with more training.
